Design Your Online Course (DYOC)

Writer, Instructional Designer, and Project Lead - Humber Polytechnic

As online learning rapidly expanded, I led the creation of Design Your Online Course (DYOC)—an interactive guide built to support Humber Polytechnic faculty in developing learner-centered, outcomes-based online courses. The resource was tailored for instructors new to both online teaching and the SME role, offering structured, practical guidance grounded in learning theory.

  • Authored all content and led end-to-end instructional design and planning

  • Structured the guide using backward design principles and adult learning frameworks

  • Provided faculty with a step-by-step blueprint for developing impactful, outcomes-based courses

Faculty-Centered and Practical

  • Included downloadable templates, checklists, toolkits, and reflective prompts

  • Covered core topics like learning outcomes, course structure, engagement strategy, and assessment design

  • Designed for independent use while supporting broader instructional development initiatives

Institutional Impact

  • Widely adopted as a foundational training resource across departments at Humber

  • Continues to support instructional quality and design consistency at the institutional leve
